The Stone Foxes Release New EP

The Stone Foxes released their EP Visalia on September 15. The long-awaited five tracks stay true to the origins of blues, country and Americana, and also allow the group's trademark live-show energy and contemporary spirit to shine through. The result has been praised by critics, with Live For Live Music describing the EP as “warmly nostalgic on the surface, but sincerely topical at its core." Singer/drummer Shannon Koehler gives insight on the anthemic, stripped-back track and on Visalia as a whole:“It’s really reflective of how important it is to live in the moment. When you’re with your loved ones and friends, and all having the time of your life, if I die, I’d be alright with it. I live with a pacemaker and have undergone 11 heart surgeries. Every moment is precious. Visalia also dives deep into roots blues music. We wanted to pay tribute to some of our blues/rock idols, while putting out a statement of frustration and anger in response to what’s happening in America right now.” Listen here

Einaudi's 'Elegy For The Arctic': One Year On

To mark the anniversary of Ludovico Einaudi’s ‘Elegy For The Arctic’, Greenpeace have released a Making Of video showing behind the scenes footage from Einaudi’s performance in the Arctic Ocean. Greenpeace have released the following statement in support of the video release: "The silence broken by the noise of the glacier as it fell off. Some notes torn from a grand piano floating in a sea of ice. Thus began the shocking video with which master Ludovico Einaudi put the soundtrack to the campaign to save the Arctic. It was recorded in Svalbard, in the Norwegian Arctic, just a year ago and managed to bring the thawing problem closer to millions of people around the world. It was not easy to do, but the result was worth it. Discover how one of the most magical moments was built in this campaign that seeks to protect one of the most threatened corners of the planet and on which we all depend." A year on, the campaign to the protect the Arctic is still underway. Einaudi states "One year ago I played ‘Elegy for the Arctic’ in support to the campaign for a marine sanctuary in the North Pole’s international waters; one year has passed, “Save the Arctic” is still a global priority. We still need your support." You can sign the petition here - https://www.savethearctic.org/. Watch here

Konx-om-Pax Signs To Aim Low / Music Sales

Konx-om-Pax aka Tom Scholefield has signed with Aim Low, a joint venture publishing company with Music Sales. As a producer, he's released two LPs on Planet Mu, the first of which was a resolutely melancholy and grainy take on pastoral IDM, shaped by living alone in Glasgow. In contrast, his last LP, Caramel, is a high-definition environment created during a move from his hometown to Berlin. Scholefield will be releasing Refresher EP this August on Planet Mu, a more dance floor friendly endeavour. Scholefield is also one of electronic music's finest designers. He created an iconic video clip for Jamie Lidell and Warp while still in art school in Glasgow, leading to a series of sleeves and videos for a who's who of experimental artists and labels. Saturated neon colours, classic '80s sci-fi and early modernist cues are recurrent themes in a vivid aesthetic that's instantly recognisable. Optimo Espacio, Hyberdub, Brainfeeder and DFA are all past clients and he's helped shape the visual identities of Oneohtrix Point Never, Hudson Mohawke and Kuedo. But while learning his trade, he was booking the likes of Autechre and Squarepusher and running knees deep in a Glaswegian scene home to everyone from Rustie to Optimo, Eclair Fifi and the Numbers crew.
