Bio

Martin Creed, the winner of the 2001 Turner Prize, has never limited himself to one discipline of the arts. His work spans performance, painting, installations and music.

The publically performed compositions of Martin Creed include his 2009 Work No. 1020: Ballet, which he wrote and choreographed for Sadler's Wells performances in London and at the Edinburgh Festival.

However, musically, Creed is perhaps best known for his 2006 piece, Work No. 1197, which was retitled, All the Bells in the Country Rung as Quickly and as Loudly as Possible for Three Minutes, before being repurposed to herald the start of the 2012 London Olympic Games. The nationwide staging of the piece prompted The Guardian to run the caption, ‘Jeremy Hunt almost hits woman with Olympic bell end.’

Ever the provocateur, Creed followed his Olympic success with the release of a double A side single ‘Fuck Off’ and ‘Die’ on the highly regarded Moshi Moshi label. His latest album, Thoughts Lined Up, was released in July 2016.
